    gardenershelper - RIP

Oh crikey. I haven't visited this forum in a very long time, as I haven't been doing much photography over the past few years. I do like to see how everyone is getting on though, although usually that's via facebook these days. I've logged in here specifically to see how Nick has managed to...

    Any idea what this is?

My guess would be some kind of mite. One of the orbatids perhaps. Probably camouflaged itself with some thing, maybe even old skin moults. Sent from my Moto G (4) using Talk Photography Forums mobile app

Yep, me too, and if the new one doesn't flip up, I'm not really keen to "upgrade"

    Canon EOS M Series Cameras

Just looking at the EFV-DC2, I can't find any images of it tilted upright, like you can with the hinged EFV-DC1. Anyone able to confirm either way? I've got that horrible sinking feeling that canon have "updated" another product while removing a key bit of functionality. M6 is looking good...

Woah, sorry to hear that, but glad you are making a swift recovery and hope you are back to form very soon.

    Teleconverter with Canon MPE65 mm

The teleconverter basically multiplies everything in front by it's factor, and the key to minimum focusing distance is focal length. The additional focal length gives you a bit more to play with (it's why I use a teleconverter alongside extension tubes as it counteracts the reduced working...

    Teleconverter with Canon MPE65 mm

I can confirm it works! I use a canon 1.4 mark III which will connect directly to the lens (i'm not 100% sure earlier models will), and it will certainly help with your mite shots. What size are the maggots? Would have thought they'd be big enough for the MP-E on it's own. With the...

what the best "little stopper" (6 Stop)

I use Hitech filters, here's a good comparison vs the Lee equivalent: http://www.stuartlowphotography.co.uk/lee-big-stopper-vs-hitech-firecrest-irnd/

    Canon EOS M Series Cameras

It's not easy. With no cable release port you have to trigger the shutter through IR. If you mobile has an IR blaster there is an app (DSLR Remote?) you can use. here's an option if you have an iPhone: I've never tried it. I revert to my original M with Magic Lantern for timelapse work.

    Canon EOS M Series Cameras

The M5 is about to launch, so prices could drop again. £379 seems a good price though.

    Canon EOS M Series Cameras

M3 has slightly higher megapixel count (24mp vs 18mp), so you'll get a bit better resolution. Usually this tends to be balanced against noise, but I seriously doubt you'll notice much difference between the two. Overall I suspect the M3 will offer better IQ - but you'd have to be a...

Marking as a camera club Judge

I guess I can see the logic in a club not wanting to upset its members, and I understand everyone if different. From my point of view if I had submitted a photo i would just want and expect fair/honest feedback. If that means I get a score less than 10 (which is highly likely anyway) then so...
