    Canon EOS R Series Cameras

I do understand it. A 160mm lens on FF will give the same field of view as would a 100mm lens on a crop sensor and thus, for this same field of view, the DoF will be greater in the latter scenario by virtue of the focal length being shorter. However that's not the comparison being made here...

The DoF for an R7 and crop-mode R6 will be the same, assuming all other factors are the same of course.

While you can control whether the EVF and screen simulates the exposure, I don't think there's any way of permanently previewing DoF as this would require the lens to be stopped down which would hamper focusing in some circumstances. Canon AF always operates with the aperture wide open then...

Is that what people really wanted though? The R10 covers the "low" end and there doesn't seem to be much of a gap between that and the R7. So many people were expecting a "crop R5", just as the 7D was a "crop 5D" but the R7 is nothing like that. I think the R7 should actually have been called...

    Canon EOS R Series Cameras

The R7 is still "missing" a dial compared to the R6 and R5, both of which have both the thumbwheel further down the back (around the SET button) and the horizontal thumbwheel at the top (around the mode button on the R5). The addition of this top horizontal wheel was one of the big benefits of...

The grips are ridiculously expensive for what they are though. No way should the R5/6 grip be over £400. I remember balking at around £250 for the grip for my 5D3 but paid for the original Canon rather than a clone as I figured it'd be better quality. It played up in the end which I found...

It's the new 'multi-function' hotshoe though which the R5 doesn't have.

    Canon EOS R Series Cameras

The concern with wildlife, as I've seen a few people comment, is the EVF. Really not sure a 1024x768 screen is good enough. I think the issue is that, whilst the R7 is probably a decent camera in absolute terms, people were expecting a 7D(II) successor and this isn't it. The forte of the 7D...

The R7 looks very underwhelming. Odd ergonomics, no CF-E slot, low res EVF and screen.

    Canon R5 video focus help

Hi all, Slowly getting to grips with my new R5 and went out today to have a play. Obvious AF is one of the big things on this camera, a totally new system and paradigm from what I'm used to (5D3). Now I'm pretty happy with my config/setup for stills shots, which is my main thing. I've got it...

    Canon EOS R Series Cameras

I've done the same with my 5D3 and grip and never had any issues, I'm just a bit concerned about the move to mirrorless after all I've read about much reduced battery life. Guess I should wait and see how it actually fares before panicking too much :)

I too am interested in what solutions people have found for charging batteries on the go. Even with a spare, if you're spending an entire day shooting something like motorsport or aviation where you're away from power and shooting frequent bursts, you're likely to tear through both batteries...

Considering the Canon 100-400 f/4.5-5.6 L IS USM II

I regret selling the 100-400 as I now have nothing longer than 200. Got an R5 coming so expect I'll succumb to a 100-500 before long. The 100-400 was soooo good though.
