I do understand it. A 160mm lens on FF will give the same field of view as would a 100mm lens on a crop sensor and thus, for this same field of view, the DoF will be greater in the latter scenario by virtue of the focal length being shorter. However that's not the comparison being made here...

The DoF for an R7 and crop-mode R6 will be the same, assuming all other factors are the same of course.

While you can control whether the EVF and screen simulates the exposure, I don't think there's any way of permanently previewing DoF as this would require the lens to be stopped down which would hamper focusing in some circumstances. Canon AF always operates with the aperture wide open then...

I've done the same with my 5D3 and grip and never had any issues, I'm just a bit concerned about the move to mirrorless after all I've read about much reduced battery life. Guess I should wait and see how it actually fares before panicking too much :)

I too am interested in what solutions people have found for charging batteries on the go. Even with a spare, if you're spending an entire day shooting something like motorsport or aviation where you're away from power and shooting frequent bursts, you're likely to tear through both batteries...

I regret selling the 100-400 as I now have nothing longer than 200. Got an R5 coming so expect I'll succumb to a 100-500 before long. The 100-400 was soooo good though.
