    Pet Rat!

The pink treatment?? The background is pink, because she's a girl. That's all the pink was for :) Some of one of my other rats, Smokey... Smokey by Vi27, on Flickr Smokey by Vi27, on Flickr Shall I try Elvie (the rat in the OP) on another background, any suggestions on which colour?

Guinea pigs (competition to cats and dogs) appreciation society

Sometimes it's down to patients if you get a naughty one that wont sit still. It's also having the confidence that pushing them around isn't going to hurt them. I'm obviously very used to handling guineas so I don't find getting a good shot hard at all. My set up is basically 2 bits of plywoon...

Guinea pigs (competition to cats and dogs) appreciation society

My specialty is guinea pigs. What I would say for the ones in the OP, is that your are standing too high on them, Eye level all the way... They also look very shocked and not completely relaxed. Almost like you just plonked them there and thought 'that'll do'. These are a few of mine... 1...

    Lighting and Reflection question

next question is where could I get this glass? I presume it needs to be elevated from the floor?

    Lighting and Reflection question

I will give a softbox a try, and also see if I can lift the subject onto a glass shelf. Thank you very much for ALL answers, I appreciate that you have taken the time to try and help xx

    Lighting and Reflection question

Where would I position the flash off camera? I usually use a white or a pale lilac coloured background and obviously don't get this problem, but I'd really like to know how to solve this so I can use these coloured backgrounds.... I can't see how using a white floor would get rid of this and...

    Lighting and Reflection question

Hi, thank you Kim for posting here, I was having a nightmare explaining what was wrong. Here is what is wrong, and I do think as you have said that it is the way I have lit the photo that is the problem, and the light is bouncing off my background onto the subject. It's only doing it to their...

    Lu the Rat

I've not come on the forum for a while, I must try and get about more! I recently got 2 rats back in March, they are much more of a challenge for photographs than the guinea pigs and the mice I had already. I still don't have any photos of my original two that I liked enough to post up for you...

    Violet1991's 52

Hi, just need to see my house to know theres no worries with 'clutter' LOL! Dawn, only just noticed what you mean about the straighten... think it's because it is actually straight and the fence is wonky, makes it look odd, think the tree on the left would look odd if I straightened it though...

    Violet1991's 52

okay so bit of a catchup for me... 4/52 - Open by violet27|photo 52, on Flickr On the idea that it's an open landscape... too vague, i dunno? and this one taken today (skin of my teeth getting it in before cutt off!!) 5/52 - Hard by violet27|photo 52, on Flickr On the plan that the rock is...

    Violet1991's 52

Thank you for the feedback. I do know what you mean about the sole of the shoe, and do agree it may look better for that one photo to be in black and white, or maybe just slightly darker. Though I decided when editing that if I was to do a B&W conversion, I'd do it for all the shots, and felt...
