Fuji X-E1/X-E2/X-E2S/X-E3 Owners Thread

Anyone after a 55-200mm lens. Wex have a refurbished one for £419.99. I am not sure how this price compares to Fuji's refurbished or best prices on new. I know they were scarce when I bought my XE-1.

Anyway link below.

Edit: Just checked Fuji Shop, they charge £550.00 for this lens refurbished. So if anyone is after this lens a bargain can be found.

That will be my lens probably (more than likely actually, very few of them about), got a refund for it eventually as it went back to Fuji twice with focus issues and a jammed barrel. Broke the second time a few days into my two week honeymoon in the US, gutted!

Just received that lens from Wex this morning - a quick test seems to show no focus issues (as yet), but a very definite "clonk" around about the 135mm marker as the lens zooms in and out - has anyone else had a similar experience? I'll keep testing it for a couple of days, but it might just be another return to Fuji.

Unfortunately that was the start of the issues for me, a correct one is incredibly smooth the whole way through the zoom range. After the clonk it started grinding, then would get jammed when retracting it, then exhibited focus issues towards the 200mm end.

If it is my old one (I haven't had my refund yet, so they've sold it twice in effect!) I'm amazed they re-sold it as it's clearly a lemon considering the issues even after repairs from Fuji.

Autumn approaches....

Others ready to pick :)

And here's another recent one from lunchtime at work, country scene

All with the X-E1, 35 and 60.

Going to pull the trigger on one in the next few days....still undecided on whether to go for flexible zoom lens or two primes.....

Difficult one that because either route and you will get quality glass.
I guess it comes down to how you prefer to shoot.

I had mostly primes for my canon but decided with the smaller system I wanted small size as well as less lens swapping. So ultimately I chose the 18-55 and the 55-200 excellent quality as well as covering the range with just 2 lenses. But I do want the F1.4 nifty fifty at some point because for low light you can't really beat it!

So, just how good is the 18-55mm kit lens guys? I'm coming from a DSLR body and 3 lenses and love the idea of a lighter option - just not sure how good the kit lens is.

Opinions?

It's a very good zoom in my opinion, very well built, lovely feel to the zoom action. Images are sharp and stabilization works well.

Here's a few examples with the 18-55

Thanks Huw, that first image is a corker (y)

What's the available DOF available? Thats one concern I have switching from primes. Being able to really isolate a subject. Does anyone have any examples they could share?

Has anyone used with success a canon 430exii on the hotshoe?
I appreciate that it can only work in manual mode.

But before I sell my 430exii to raise funds I was thinking I might keep it if someone can verify it works OK.

I think my 580exii might be too top heavy....

Hi, It should work perfectly but as you say not dedicated. Every hot shoe flash that I have tried on mine works without problem.

Just remember not to use a shutter speed that is too fast as you'll get image cut of as I'm sure you already know.

Hope this helps.

My new 55-200 arrived today, what a lens.
Absolutely stunning build and zoom action and image quality is fantastic. Very pleased with it (as you can tell).

Just as I'm about to pull the trigger on one of these little beauties it seems Fuji are set to announce an updated model, and a cash promotion on the current X-E1.

Looks like I'm going to have to keep my powder dry for a while yet. :)

Doubt it will drop as low as import prices. The updated model is the xa-1, it's not an update but a new bottom range camera.

In my experience the cashback/rebate rumours for mirrorless stuff rarely actually show up in the UK anyway. In the US mirrorless is incredibly niche still so they are pretty aggressive with pricing, I would be very surprised if we saw any sort of discount on the X-E1 here as they could probably just let the X-E1 sell out naturally at full price with a bit of overlap with the new X-E2/X-E1s model rumoured for next month.

You could put together a decent X-E1 system on MPB at the moment if willing to go used, plenty of bodies and they have the 18, 35 and 18-55 at pretty good prices.

Hi XE-1 experts :)

Just ordered mine from the Fuji refurb. shop.

Wondering what 3rd party batteries anyone has had success with?

Think I am going to go for the half-case, but unsure what case to get for days out walking, the Kata LighTri-310 DL still looks my favourite.

I've got a soft shutter release on my x10 which I am going to transfer over.

What other accessories might I need?

Cheers

I use Maxsima batteries which are OK. I don't get the feeling they last as long as Fuji originals but as backup they are fine. Hahnel would be worth looking at too. I got some no-name batteries off the web but they were awful, lasting very little. Worth paying a bit more for something better I feel.

I've also got a couple of Maxsima batteries as spares, they seem to do the job well enough.

Having used my X-E1 this weekend to take some photographs of a chef's dessert, that is to be featured in a couple of books, I have to say ditching the Canon 50D 3 lenses big bag etc was certainly the right move for me! So in love with this 'little' Fuji especially now I've added a Footprint strap, soft shutter release button and a thumb grip!

For my Fuji gear bag wise I use a thinktank Retrospective 5, it doesn't scream photograhy gear and is nice and comfortable to carry.

That does look a nice setup. I have a black X-E1 with a black footprint strip with green string and today added a green soft release.

I've been researching full cases, but the only ones with the battery/sd card access seem to be half-cases. I was looking at a full case so I can just chuck the camera in my work bag and know it's fully protected. The fuji half-case comes with some kind of cloth to wrap around but not sure that looks very protective.

I've also read a few users using these:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Official-..._Camera_Cases_Bags_Covers&hash=item257879214c
nice and cheap but again how much of a pain would it be taking the lower half off each time to get SD card access.

With my x10 I have the full case and it's pretty easy to undo the clips and loosen the lower part of the case to get the SD card out, but it looks like some of the full cases are attached by screw in to the tripod mount so I am guessing that's not a quick release.

Anyone any ideas or comments?

Looking into an XE-1 after selling my X100 but it seems like all of the lenses are almost as much as the body itself, are there any good cheap lenses? I dont mind manual focusing just wondering what options are out there. Whenever I look for Fuji X lenses it comes up with either very pricey lens or really cheap X-Fujinon lenses, neither of which im looking for!

The 18-55mm is very good value for money, also at the moment you can get the XE-1 with the 35mm F1.4 and get an 18mm for free :)

I went 18-55 but may pick up the 35 prime later if I decide this setup matches the images I get 90% of the time from my 5dmkii when just out and about.
Going to sell the x10 too and some other bits and bobs to raise some funds lol
