Hopefully that is purely a technicality out of no interest to the US. I hope other countries grow some balls and get to grips with that organisation, but only in accordance with the applicable laws. I do hope that FIFA finally gets the message that they aren't untouchable and that they will get their act together..
 
Blatter it appears is untouchable and his re-election a forgone conclusion. Unbelievable considering, according to the reports, the corruption has been ongoing for at least 24 years whilst he has been president for the last 17. Its time the rest of the footballing world stood up to the corruption of FIFA and started there own organisation.

I dunno. I read the article and I don't agree with Piers Morgan's attitude here. I mean, he says stuff like this:

"He’s always denied any impropriety, but it’s harder to find examples of him behaving WITH propriety."

Far too polite and deferential to Blatter. I reckon he must have been bribed to tone down his article.
 
Some of the big sponsors are starting to grumble now and with some commentators saying they may pull there sponsership
 
what's new - it's professional "sport"

it gets what it deserves

"Big Sponsors" - all in it together for the same end - McDonalds Balance Sheet is far more important to them than "sport"

and what are most top professional "sportsmen" after - on or off the field? ........ they all want to "score"

And unfortunately that is just what it is, a grumble. A request to improve on their compliance policies and the likes. There is too much money to be gained by those on the top table to give it up. Much better to just ensure you don't get caught. At worst I am afraid it will end up in fifa officials never doing business on American soils. There are plenty of places they can go to.

The only thing that would stop them is when the footballing nations who cab actually play leave the club. But they won't do that either as they will loose out too much.
 
But the Fifa Ethics committee investigated, reported to the Ethics Committee, who found Fifa and the Ethics committee completely innocent of doing anything wrong and probably that full platter should be granted a sainthood.

Because Morgan's loathsome attempt to use this as a way of repairing his own reputation should be treated with the utter contempt it - and he - deserves.
 
The Americans are also very "annoyed" that there are millions and millions of US $'s that have not been declared and have not had US taxes paid on them .......... Jack Warner I am sure will "go down"

The US started the attack on Swiss secrecy laws and tax evasion by their citizens some years ago and it is an ongoing task to prosecute US citizens who have undeclared assets in Switzerland ........ I would image that this FIFA situation could have sprung from such investigations

What they are doing, (which for some reason is not popular with Euro governments), is to "follow the money" - and with their attack on muti-national Banks, with very high penalties, mega fines and imprisonment for the slightest "wrong doing" they now have the power to demand information and transparency, even from the Swiss Branches of these multi-national Banks

The US authorities aren't interested in "soccer"

Actually, sponsorship represents only 25% of FIFA's income. The vast majority comes from TV rights.
Are we all happy for BBC/ITV and Sky (ok, let's accept Sky would never do anything principled) to boycott every FIFA event?
 
I would be. Edward II had the right idea in 1314 (and lots of others have done the same thing!)

I would be - but then I am not a football fan

and we have never subscribed to Sky

I love watching Cricket and Rugby Union ......... but maybe that's becoming another story
