Nikon D750 & D780

Looks like you got some good light and the heather is still showing well.
Heather's still in full bloom. This was the last of the good light, got cloud cover and the light was very dull so didn't quite get the sunset I wanted. Still, I quite like this one :)

Sometimes you don't need sunset for good light. The light is good n that, much better than I had when I visited a few weeks back. I stood in exactly the same place as I remember that overhanging rock, there was far more photographers hanging around whilst I was there. There was about six in the area in your photo.

I'm going to be a big sister by Tim G, on Flickr

There was initially balloons involved but Amelia was terrified of them blowing away. Then we started in the back garden but the sun dipped below the dance line. So we dashed to some grass at the end of the road and had to catch the sun as it came between the houses opposite. The dandelion's just so happened to be there :D

Many congrats mate. Plenty more photo's due

Yeah, I tend to prefer the light about an hour or just over an hour before sunset but this particular time I wanted the sunset. There were 5 or 6 togs that came and went whilst I was there, and a lot of folk that didn't realise/care that you'd got set up to take a pic  ;)

Congrats dude, awesome news

I've had my D750 a couple of months or so now and I'm really chuffed with it. Have to say I was a bit apprehensive switching back having used Fuji for so long but much prefer the file output of the Nikon files.

I think over the next couple of months I'm going to do a bit of re-alignment of my kit. I think I'm going to change out the Df I have for a second D750 and move the rest of my Fuji kit on. I also want a 35 1.4 so may sell my 35 1.8 and recently purchased 28mm 1.8 to fund that.

Overall, I'm really loving the Nikon experience at present.

Do you need two DSLR bodies if you keep the Fuji? If not, how about chopping them both in for an 850, futureproof and GAS-proof for the next 5 years, you know you want to.

Or....

Chop the DF in for a 105 ;) Then I can swoon over that and move the wedding back another year :exit:

Haha! Nice thinking but I need 2 bodies for some stuff I do. 105 would be nice but that will be after tomorrow nights lottery win.

I think swapping out the Df for a second D750 would keep me going for a while and the sale of the bit of Fuji kit would half cover the 35 1.4 I want. GAS again :D

Sounds like a sensible plan. I think if you did get a 105 the GAS would ruin my wedding fund and I'd be sat in a one-bedroomed bedsit licking my wounds/lens!

Very nice Andy, some really good captures that tell the story and emotions of the day.

How did you get on in Chez Vegas and the Peak District? Looking forward to seeing your pics (y)
We had a great time in Peak district. Lots of driving and seeing places. Fortunately for us all the days were bright and sunny which also means not much of shooting during day time as there is no drama in light.

As I anticipated going with a seven year old and my mum, I couldn't manage much time shooting the golden hours as people were tired and eager to head back to the Airbnb place in Chesterfield.
From a photography point of view, this was not the trip I hoped for and I have made a promise to myself that either I will go on my own or stay right in the middle of Peak district so that I can drop my family at the hotel and head to shoot some sunset. If I go my own, I will give a shout here to see if any of you living close by are interested for a photo walk.

Peak district as a place is stunning and we loved it. The drive along the Cat and Fiddle, Snake pass and Mortimer road was fantastic.

Interesting to see your shots of Owler Tor. We spent some time in Surprise view and I was waiting for a bunch of kids to move from Owler Tor so that I can go there and shoot, but the crowd only started getting thicker. While I was getting back to my car, saw a tog bringing out his tripod and filters and spraying some insect repellent all over as surving without such sprays in surprise view after 6 pm could be a challenging experience :D. I knew he will be there for long and capture some amazing shots as the light was slowly getting better.

I will post some shots soon but they will be quite normal and boring compared to some of the shots I have seen here including yours.

Here's one- I was trying to mimic the shots of @minnnt but I realised that neither the time is right nor the light or anything else for that matter as David's shots were fascinating. Hence I asked my wife to capture my excitement and frustration in one shot on top of Stanage Edge and I think she did well :D.

Haha, that pic's great ;) Glad you enjoyed the Peaks. Shame you didn't get the photos you wanted, but a good excuse to go back. Regarding the insects, it was particularly bad, I was eaten alive the other night and my arms are literally covered in midge bites. The lengths us togs got to eh ;)

Really nice.
Thanks.

Serves you right for going to Stanage Edge :D

Sounds like you had a great time mate. Certainly had better weather than we're having this week! Hoping to smash a ride in on Thursday around Ladybower and Cut Gate up to Langsett. Might aswell make the most of being off sick eh? :D

Really nice, i do love your choice with music.

Do you tend to have a set number of tracks you use or just find one that suits.

Looks like you had a second shooter at 1:46 :D

EDIT: Ok sorry, it was good music til about 3mins when i had my ear drums blown off lol

Just find one that suits from SoundStripe.

One of their friends is a DJ and had put a drum n bass set together for the dancing. I thought the switch in pace for music was appropriate for them :)

Losing a bit of love for my 50mm as my walk around. Its just not quite wide enough for general purpose. I'm still wanting to stick with primes so thinking of trying a different focal length and forcing my self to use it for a set period of time and see what results I get! I'm so used to 50mm, I think its a learning game adapting to something else.

tbh I find 50mm on ff a bit meh ... I'm regretting selling my 35mm (but needed to at the time so ...) . I vaguely remember you not liking 35mm so maybe this is the lens for you https://www.europe-nikon.com/en_GB/...ingle-focal-length/af-s-nikkor-28mm-f-1-4e-ed

I feel a 50mm is like a telephoto these days and usually use 28mm or 35mm with the latter being the more versatile.

I used to live on 50mm, especially on APS-C, but I'm finding 35mm just so much more useful. I really want to swap my 1.8 35mm for the 1.4 version, looking at some of the photos on the FM forums it just has 'that look' about it wide open, similar to the 58mm :cool:

Sigma 35mm f1.4 art is a stunner (y)

It is a shame its not Sigma money!

This, for the price it can't really be beaten. The sharpness still amazes me when I swap back to the 35

I like the idea of staying all Nikon I have to say... just my weird OCD, and of course the Nikon is very slightly less weighty!

I'd still like a Nikon 35 1.4 (and 85 1.4) for that matter

Oh yes, the 85 1.4 looks a beast. I really like the way the 1.8 renders so I'm quite happy with that at present. But at some stage I may go for the 1.4 to compliment the 58 and hopefully the 35 if I can sell that kidney. :D

I know you have OEM OCD but I have the non art Sigma 85mm f1.4 and it's probably my favourite rendering lens. Dare I say it, better than my 70-200mm f2.8

Do you actually find yourself shooting much at f1.4?

Can't say i really found a need to go less than f1.8 / 2.0.

Guess for those semi-long distance shots on a dull day could be handy.
