Olympus OM-D E-M5, E-M1, E-M10 - Mk1, Mk2 & Mk3 Owners Thread

Likewise trev really nice shot

Been looking at all the hoopla over the new Fuji X100V, and it sure does look like a very nice camera. 40mp APS-C sensor, 6K and 4K video, IBIS etc. However at £1500 and a probably wait of 6 months to a year to get hold of one, I decided to give it a miss.

I was then trawling the internet and found a very tidy Olympus Pen-F in silver, with absolutely everything it came with (all boxes and sleeves, manuals, Flash, cables, neck strap, genuine charger and 4 genuine Olympus BLN-1 batteries. The body has a couple of small marks (unsurprising for a camera of this age - I prefer to call them battle scars)), but only has 12,000 shutter activations. I made a cheeky offer, and it's now in my hands for the princely sum of £420 (a bit of an impulse purchase) !

I know the Pen-F is older technology, has "only" a 20mp sensor, isn't APS-C, doesn't have fantastic AF-C and tracking performance, and only shoots video in 1080p (that's a real shame), but it does have great build quality, a decent EVF, tiny external flash, Olympus's legendary IBIS and a full suit of colour and B&W controls. I've been meaning to get hold of one of these for several years now, but they were always a bit too expensive. Well, I now own one and I've coupled it with my Olympus M.Zuiko 17mm F1.8, to make a pseudo X100 copy (probably more like an X100T than the new VI, but at a fraction of the price. Let's bring the fun back into photography.

I love my little Pen F. It doesn't really see a lot of use, but it's such a fun camera. I love flicking the Creative Dial to immediately dial in my B&W.
Enjoy it!

Chaeonomeles, I think. I've started being a good bit heavier with my processing. I never used to shy away from oddness with film photos so I'm trying to bring some of that back. Epl-7 and Panasonic 20mm f1.7, I think at 2.8 or so judging by dof.

Should say, the edit style. I've picked is based on me trying to emulate the colours of an old (1990s) gardening book I found the other day. Reds seem to have shifted a bit but are very saturated still. Much of the rest has yellowed/warmed somewhat, and desaturated a bit.

I know this isn't about a micro four thirds product, but I was browsing E-Infinity this morning, and happened to drop on the new Fuji X100 VI and found this interesting. As some may know, this was only recently launched and apparently already has massive backorders. We'll in the UK at least it's price is £1,599.00. E-Infinity apparently have it in stock at the moment for a massive £2,299.00. That's a massive £700 over list or nearly a 45% increase over list - talk about price gouging !!. Suppose if you really can't wait then someone will no doubt purchase it at this ridiculous price ?

Sorry but what a lot of whining about upgrades, just don’t buy them l say. Most companies are marketing masters but Om system it seems to have tried to offer something not really needed and classed it as a mkII. You good people have seen through this but many won’t and lots of money will be made.
l think it is more of getting the Olympus name off the product than anything else.
.... Hear! Hear! :agree:. The Mk2 OM-1 certainly has some improvements but not worth changing from a Mk1 if you already have one.

Regardless of how good photographers the OMD Ambassadors are, their waxing lyrical about the Mk2 shows just how their words in most cases should be taken with a large pinch of salt because they are primarily marketing both OMD and themselves as professionals. I don't have a problem with that.

It wouldn't surprise me Robin if they bring out the 150-400 mkii to get the Olympus name off that lens too in the near future.

I think it’s more or less a given thing ,the use of the Olympus brand name will be time limited … and so far from the reports I have seen from trusted private users of the mkii body there are definite improvements but that’s only if the camera is used in specific circumstances , for most of us ordinary users stick with the mk1 is the best option

.... I thought they already had OMD badged their later productions of the 150-400mm. I was a very early adopter and so mine proudly bears the Olympus name.

The 150-400mm has fairly recently had a Firmware update but with nothing outstandingly noticeable that I have experienced. In fact I have forgotten what it is.

DxO have added the new lens and OM1 mk2 very quickly :)

Mine has OM on it already.

I might have shared this before. It was taken handheld at 0.5s last November as a test after the firmware update - which I did whilst on holiday. I was very impressed with the stability.

Edit: Focal length 150mm - so maybe not all that impressive :ROFLMAO:

Something different. I'm having a rough time at work, and finding joy in very simple photos.

First is a Japanese quince, chaeonomeles I believe. I really like them. It's a boring flower photo, but it's a plant I look forward to this time of year.

I thought the hebe had a real sense of urgency and almost "discomfort" in the colours, like they are vibrating.

Looking for some info and help.I am a Canon user and hoping to get into macro photography using photo stacking with flash .I have heard that Olympus are good at this.I have aquired the 60mm macro lens from a friend. He swears by his OM1,but is there anything slightly cheaper.I will still be keeping the Canon stuff but hope to buy used.

Em1 mark ii does cool macro multishot things with that lens, I think including in-camera stacking. I always stacked in PS.
