Tried a couple of rolls Peter, HP 5 etc, loaded into F90 straight away. What film are you loading? If it doesn't have the iso info on the cartridge, you have to set it manually . Fomapan films are generally like that.Nikon EM instruction manual, Nikon F-801 AF Bedienungsanleitung, PDF user manual

fully charged set of new re-chargables,Just guessing..new batteries or clean all battery contacts?
No sound when I press the button just the "E"Nikon F801?
If you click the shutter when no film is loaded does it sound like the advance is working?
If so then the film has not caught on the roller and hence fails to load.
If the film is far enough across and is not being taken up then it could be the motor has failed.
Well just done. Google and found this, whether it fixes the issue I've no ideaNo sound when I press the button just the "E"
Is that with Film in Nick or just a general reset?Well just done. Google and found this, whether it fixes the issue I've no idea
Rewind/Advance Issues: The camera may fail to advance the film, often displaying 'E' in the right-hand corner. Try pressing the [Mode and Drive buttons] together to reset the camera
Thank you for the advice Paul. NotedBe careful of the battery door, they are prone to break.
It's not the battery door that fails, but the film door, but Nikon did a modification on many of them.Be careful of the battery door, they are prone to break.
