I assume we want to do this again next year and that everyone is reasonably happy with the way things have gone this year?

Last year I was concerned that we had themes that could be done during lock-downs, etc so I tried to pick themes that could be done at home if needs be. Now that it seems we are not likely to have lock downs next year I think it would be good to throw open the theme selection so I suggest that we have a week of people posting theme suggestions then a week of voting on those themes. We really need to get the themes settled by the end of this month so we can start shooting in December.

If we are going to have a poll we need to limit the number of suggestions so please suggest up to 5 themes that you would like to see in next year's FPOTY.

I like the idea of having completely open themes that will make entries look more different instead of similar. Interpretation of the theme becomes part of the challenge, but isn't so difficult it puts people off. My suggestions:

1. My Passion
2. Wabi-Sabi (Most people have to look this up)
3. Perfection
4. Relationships (Doesn't have to be people!)
5. Halsman's Rules (Could allow the tog to choose, or just add one, or all 6 of them to the pot, though that's cheating when you asked for 5 and would make this suggestion a sixfer. More info: https://blog.mingthein.com/2016/07/08/the-principles-of-philippe-halsman/ and glossed over here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philippe_Halsman)

I have more if you don't get many suggestions :) Thanks for running it again!

Well done for initiating this Chris. I am definitely aiming to spend more time on photography next year - mainly because I expect to have retired at the end of December! (sort of). My ideas rather more prosaic than Ian's:
Rainy, Patterns, Going Up, Farming, Cloudscape

I think wabi-sari perfectly describes me: a natural thing with imperfections becoming more "beautiful" with age. I'll get my hat...:exit:

I prefer themes that are adjectives or adverbs rather than nouns.
  1. Tasty
  2. Graceful
  3. Seemingly
  4. Paradoxically
  5. and allowing for a wild card month - Chacun à son goût

Faded
Sheds
Intentional camera movement (ICM)
Small…. Far away….
Minimalist landscape.

I have lots more in my head but these will do for now.

Looks like some themes are going to tie on number of votes so if that is the case I'll pick the remainder randomly
