Can some 20D, 30D, 40D etc owners confirm something for me please?
1 Put the camera into Av mode.
2 Ensure the C.Fn that controls sync speed in Av mode is set to Auto.
3 Attach a flash (I've tried this with 580 and 580II).
4 Put the flash in E-TTL mode
5 The shutter speed will fluctuate to match the aperture and ambient exposure as you'd expect.
5 Now change the flash to Manual mode (camera still in Av)
6 What does the shutter speed do?
On my 20D and D60, Av mode + manual flash locks the shutter speed to max sync speed.
However, on a 1D mkIII this doesn't happen and I'm free to manually fill flash without the camera adjusting the ambient combination.
Is this a "feature" or am I just going nuts?
Thanks
