4 Kingfishers!!

Yesterday I was walking through the high street. With me was my oldest friend Martin and my other-half's daughter Annabel (15). Martin was carrying his D90 and 70-300mm lens and Annabel had her D5000 with 18-55 kit lens. I'm not sure why I didn't have mine with me

As we walked along through the high street something caught my eye. "That was a kingfisher" I said. "Are you sure Ryan, kingfishers don't usually fly around in the high street?" said Martin. How odd.

A few minutes later we walked past a side street. As we got level with it I turned around and noticed FOUR kingfishers flying towards us. "Look!" I shouted. As they got nearer to us they turned into the side street and stopped, pearching 15 feet up on the wall. What struck me as odd was that each bird was really fat - almost football size :suspect:

I didn't need to tell Martin to take aim, he'd already raised his D90 and was ready to take pictures at the long end of his lens. Suddenly Annabel starts running towards the birds. Realising that her kit lens was far too short to get a decent picture she figured she needed to get closer to them. And as soon as she started to run, screaming with excitement, the birds took flight. I was less than happy and had to have "words" about not running towards wildlife - if the lens is too short then tough. And of course, poor old Martin never got his shot :(

I have no idea why I had this dream. I wonder if the kingfisher shooters are always dreaming about wedding photography :D
