450D on ebay.....stolen?

I think you may be right. The fact that he states that "it was bought from a shop" sounds fishy to me. It's not something I would feel the need to say in a listing. Also, he has a bag but no box etc

Stolen or not someone got a bargin, I sold my 450d for over £410 about a month a ago, it was boxed with a few accessories thou. Just goes to show, always keep the box :).

I got email from seller...

"hiya jay. i sold the camera but the guy is now saying he wants me to send it abroad which did clearly say im not sending it abroad, to save it being relisted i am offering you the chance to own this fab camera i will accept your offer of £280, that is if your still interested, please could you be so kind to let me know many thanks and have a great weekend

There was quite a large collection of Nikon stuff I phoned the cops about a couple of years ago. Like you say, stuff missing which a careful owner wouldn't have misplaced, and the seller hadn't done any camera buying or selling on eBay in their recent history.

The person I spoke to said her father is a photographer, and he never keeps the boxes  Anyway, I s'pose they'd only prick their ears up if something had been reported on their patch.

With this seller, you could contact him her (foxy-chick82) again and ask for the serial number.

The items the seller has bought in the passed suggest a family so maybe I was hasty in imagining the 'little thief' selling on their loot.

If i get serial number, what i need to do with it?

I hate the whole second chance offer thing, they have probably been bidding on there own item to pump the price!! Id say the camera works ok, and at £280 its still a bargin.

She should send you an official second chance offer, otherwise it won't go through ebay and you won't be protected. She shouldn't be offering the item to you at your maximum bid (which I am assuming is where she got the £280 figure)

EDIT
Actually, scrap that. You'd have won it if you had offered that. So ignore me, I obviously don't have all the facts! lol

:agree:

Anyone who claims something was "brought" needs to be avoided on principle.

Avoid anyone who says "brought", "buyed", "bidded", "L@@K", or "wow" in Ebay listings, and you cut off most of the scammers and numpties at source.

It "sold" for £255 to possibly dodgy guy overseas, but you can have it for £280.
Wow. Maths is not her strong point.
