50D remote?

Yes you can get a wireless one if you choose.

As for where, Amazon, Jessops, Jacobs, the buy and sell here, there are hundreds of options.

Do you have a budget?

do thy do one that works off the flash gun shoe? and with out the need for a wire to go into the side of the camera?

I want one to take pics from in front of the camera wirelessly and also from behind on a tripod .. Cheap as poss

Hahnel do a remote that fits on the hotshoe of the 50D although it doesen't have to be attached there, and can be left along side on its short lead. The trigger can work up to 80 meters away (so they say) I've only used it from about 25-30 meters myself and had no problems.

my grip on my 50d has a IR remote, with the sensor on the front of the grip. good if you are in front of it, but does not work from behind.

i wonder if another IR led/sensor can be made and wired, fitted into the rear of the grip?

Bought 2 of these nearly 2 years ago for 450d and 50d have worked flawlessly on both and had plenty use. Dont believe all the negative stuff you hear about the cheap and cheerfuls.

That looks to be a copy of the hahnel one I mentioned earlier only at 20% of the price. Looks good to me and I could of saved £40. :bang:

So I plug one part into the camera ad then just press the button for instant shutter release behind and in front of camera? Good range?

Yongnuo RF602 - can be used as a shutter release and wireless flash trigger.
