Still, when you think about it, if you stripped out the advertising, free loans at mejor sporting events, how much does it cost to manufacture a 5D?..... but that's irrelevant as we all know!! maybe £250?

Well it'll be a lot less than we pay that's for sure - but producing full frame sensors is extremely expensive, although Canon are getting prices down all the time. The original canon 1Ds was over £6K body only for it's 11 million pixels and the cost of producing the sensors represented about 80% of that cost. I remember reading that each process produced a batch of 8 sensors and the scrap rate was very high. Canon are getting more pixels on that sensor now for less money, but I'm sure it's still a very difficult and costly process or more manufacturers would be turning them out.
 
Yes, I'm sure you're right, and I for one thank Canon for having the full frame sensor. - pays yer money and takes yer choice!!
 
I tried to buy the 5d from express camera and from camera usa and from three other stores and all said the same after trying to order one--it would take 7-21 days-after i called back after 21 days it change to 4-6 weeks- after that it was 6-8 weeks -all because i did not want to buy a lot of other stuff they tried to sell me- I ended up payimg 2670.00 for the camera body and 5 year warenty.
 
mmmmmmmm.......don't think I'd have done that....

Nope :nono: still just that one post :lol:

I notice the site seems to have gone now though. I just hope not too many people got sucked in, believeing they were picking up a bargain :shrug:
