not sure if im in the right section but i just got a eos 5dmk2 yesterday, and now im just home from giving it a tester down at the local beech.all my shots are in raw(as i always shot with my 40d)but when i open them in cs3 it says that it is the wrong type of document and wont open the image???I hope somone can help as i think im maybe just missing the obvious.

I'm afraid it's not good news! In order to open the 5DII raw files, you need the newer version of Adobe Camera Raw. Trouble is, it only works with CS4 onwards :bang:

So you have 2 choices, upgrade to CS4/5, or download the free DNG converter from the adobe site, that lites you convert the .cr2 files into another format, which you can then edit!

cs3 can't cope with the raw files from the 5dII.
You can convert them to dng format with a free converter from Adobe which should then open fine.

ok so i used the canon software for the raw stuff then i opened in cs3 from the canon menu and did what i had to do but now it wont let me save it as a jpeg.i think ive alot to learn!!!

You need to be in 8 bits per pixel for JPEG. The raw/tiff files will be 16 bits per pixel (actually, 16 bits per colour channel per pixel). To change the bit depth, Image->Mode->8 bits/channel once you've finished all your editing (do everything at the highest resolution possible..).

Personally, I'd go with Adobes DNG converter. I believe DNGs are more versatile and smaller than TIFF files....
