Third party battery's are not a option.Unfortunately you won't get one cheaper than that. With the chip that Canon have included it makes it very difficult for third party manufacturers to copy it exactly with the chip, meaning Canon can charge ridiculous prices.
£57.50 at Amazon Bob, looks like I wil get one from Kerso.Hmmm, Amazon were doing them for £48 a few weeks back....picked up three whilst the going was good. I suspect that they'll have another offer if you're prepared to wait a wee while.

I hope i didnt waste my money...
There's also a plausible theory that the body can record the use of non-chipped batteries...this could invalidate warranty.
