A bit of fun - WORDLE. (NB, US spelling!) No spoilers please

2 today - bit of a fluke! Second guess was just trying the two yellows from the first go in different positions and introducing another vowel. And then it all turned green!!
 
Brain had a workout. 3 today,

A complete blank, 1Y and 1G followed by a lot of thinking gave me 5G
 
My oh my! Three today, what a guess that turned out to be :)

Blank, 1G, 1G, 2Y + 1G, 2y + 1G .... solved

I think it was just a crazy guess lol
On a good note last year I did well on a scratch card then having a bet in the Euros 2020.
 
Only just, 0, 2Y, 1G 2Y, 1G 2Y, 3G, 5G and only because nothing else I could think of would fit.
 
More awake now and remembered some American history!

It's possible but very rare I imagine. Today's one was definitely not a 1 shot, not a word I'd ever randomly come up with. It took me 4 tries even after having 1G and 2Y on second, was a bit of a head scratcher. Just by the positioning of that one green I could narrow it down to the few possibles my brain could muster
 
4 yesterday and 4 today. Thought I had it in 3 today, but the solution was a less common word than the one I guessed with the same first three letters.

Some idiot has now written a Twitter bot that responds to anyone who posts one of these:

Sadly, I think my interest in this fun little game might come to an end soon, I've just seen on my phone feed this evening articles that give you today's soloution :/ You just know people will abuse this, can't for the life of me imagine WHY you you would offer soloution to such a simplistic one-a-day puzzle. Or indeed why you would want to cheat! The whole idea is to give the brain a little excercise

Easy answer is to not look at the articles that give it away! When I'm going through the forum, I get up to this thread and when I see it, I'm reminded that I haven't "done" the day's puzzle so I open another tab and do the thing - or at least I TRY to do it (today being an exception - took a while to wake up properly and get the dossing thing!!!) just in case there's a spoiler. Just because some people are trying to spoil it for the rest of us, it doesn't mean we have to let them.

I enjoy working it out, so wouldn't ever bother to view spoilers. Reckon I'm seeing those articles suddenly appear on my feed simply because I play the game, and we all know how everything gets interlinked through google if you're signed in. Have had some creepy moments for example where I had just been talking to someone in person about something specific, next thing I start getting articles on the subject on my feed - and I have all voice/mic modes apparently off on my devices!
 
Can you not block the spoiler feeds? Or just go to wordle before looking at the feed.

I can block those articles from reappearing aye, I'm only seeing the headline not actually clicking through. I guess what annoys me is that they exist at all!

2 again for me - two flukes in a row! Was looking at how to get a good selection of additional letters into the second guess while making use of the one green in the first. All turned green again!! :)

Regarding cheating, spoilers etc, I look at any game as you v the solution, the player who resorts to cheats/spoilers is only fooling themselves.
 
Well back to my more normal 4 again today, bit of a tricky one. 1Y, 1Y, 2G 1Y, 5G.

I tend to do worse on the supposed easier words, way over thinking the initial word perhaps.

3 today. First was a blank (very unusual!) so the backup came into play. That got me 2G + 1Y and a quick mental search was a lucky guess!
 
4 again today 1G, 3G, 3G 1Y, 5G.

Does anyone ever have a plan for the first word or do you change/stab a guess each time?
 
I use the same word for my first guess every time. Uses what are (IIRC!) the most common letters, 2 vowels and 3 consonants. I keep forgetting to use them in a different order, mainly because that word is an American spelling!

Random guess each time, as I know they switch it up and chuck in oddball words now and then - like 'knoll' the other day, that tripped many people up with no A, E, I, S, R or U [the more popular letters in general] People guessing words with a few vowels to begin were stumped on that one. I was lucky as I had an O and N in my first guess [think it was 'grown' as I've seen them use G quite a bit for the words too] and happened to get the 'o' in the right spot with a yellow 'n'

I start with the same vowel rich word every time.
 
3 again today, Just the 1Y with the first word, same Y and a G second try and another lucky guess hit the bullseye.
 
And back to 2 for me! 2Y+1G in the first word so a bit of a lucky start based on where the G was and what words might contain the 2Y’s…….
