A bizarre thing happened at work today.

Here's hoping you never get stuck in the snow or have a need for a doctor/nurse etc in said conditions, as then you might just be happy to see that prick in a range rover

and no I don't think a smiley made it funny

Your comment made it even funnier mate

And for the record, I drove my 1.8 diesel Ford Focus 30 miles of motorway, in January last year with very VERY heavy snowfall. There were vehicles stranded on the side, in the middle, everywhere in the motorway, including 4X4's. I was suprised at the amount of 4X4's that I saw stranded.
My point is, that you can be a crap driver and own a 4X4 and STILL get stranded.
If you're a good driver (like me) you can avoid little 'obsticles' like snow.

I'm living proof.

Lighten up mate, it was just a joke.
I don't get all stroppy when somebody makes a joke about being a baldy git :D

And that'll be what, a few days a year? What about the rest of the year... when the schools are on holiday?....

I'd say the Doctor's should be able to afford their own Range Rovers and then they can give the nurses a lift.

I find that joke funny, and Ive got a mate with a Range Rover classic, another mate who has had two Range Rover P38s and another mate who has had two Range Rover sports.

Lighten up. ;)

4 - 6 do not apply as the 'offences' did not occur on the public highway so the police would have no powers to bring any charges.

.

Are you sure that's correct, I thought that rule had changed, as long as the land is that to which the public have access ie a supermarket car park then it's classed as the public highway

I can see a sign that says free parking in one of the pictures so it's land that has public access

I am, that's why I was messing.

Erm the one that says free parking has been (poorly) photoshopped - check the other gatepost! :cuckoo::cuckoo:

If customers use it it's still land that has public access

It is NOT public land.

There is NO public access to it.:thumbs:

There's no gate across it and obviously people sometimes just drive into it, I think you'd still be prosecuted for drink driving or similar on there if a police officer wanted to.

There is - we shut them at night. (Though I know where you are coming from.)

In addition to the two signs on gate posts informing a private car park, there are also 3 signs within the car park to the same effect, and 2 signs to inform there is no public right of way............

However, I know where you are coming from regarding public access.

As to what you mention - technically, I could drive and reverse up and down it all day, as drink as a skunk and plod could no nothing as I am not on a public road and therefore not breeching the RTA88.

Likewise, if you park your car in your driveway adjacent to your house, but deemed private land, you can do anything you want with it / to it, etc and nothing plod can do.....

this thread has kind of twisted and turned like a twisty turny thing, which is good!

Nah stay off topic, all this talk of Landrovers is good :)

Hang on... Range Rovers. When did the Series vehicle with 18mpg, 50mph top speed and a chassis with a terminally declining rear crossmember come into it?:nuts:

A decent series vehicle with a military bumper would have pushed one car to Dover and flattened that fors thing for sure.

And for the record I don't need a 4wd so I don't pay to have one. But would I have a V8 90 series thing? You betcha. Almost certainly, but I need more room in the cab than exists. Would I have a Disco? Please don't tempt me just now.

I hate people who think they can park where they want its one of my pet hates, Ignoramus's most of them. I would love to be a wheel clamper, so much job satisfaction, could probably only manage it for a day or two though before some motoring organisation took a hit out on me ;)

lol - ive got two landrovers and a ford ranger to choose from at work - roll on the snow. (last winter i had a young and single assistant RoW officer begging me to let him use a vehicle to do the hospital run - he'd got it into his head that he'd be taking nubile nurses home from night shift... we gave him a vehicle for the day and they sent him to pick up hairy ass firemen  )

Spark - I think Tikkathreebarrel was referring earlier on when he commented on 18mpg, 50mph top speed etc, to Land Rovers, not Range Rovers. :cuckoo:
