Jeez... USB cables come in about 2 varieties, there's a minimum of 50 of each type in my house at any given moment![]()
Reason i asked is i was going to attach it to the side of my desk and route the cable round to the rear of my PC base unit.

The Sandisk Card readers are also worth a look if you haven't ordered the Lexar one yet - mine came with a mini USB cable for attaching the reader to a PV or Laptop and a longer USB cable attached to the docking base.
I think you'll be pleased with either reader![]()
Not wishing to hijack, but does anyone know a decent well priced CF reader?
Link?
Do the speeds of readers actually vary and is it worth paying £25 for a Sandisk rather than a 50-in-1 device from Aldi? Isn't a high-speed USB 2 CF or SD card reader the same speed be it Sandisk, Lexar or Chinese cheapo? Serious question as I thought the speed would be limited by the card rather than the card reader so long as it's not an old USB 1 device?

with neil, I've also seen review on several high spec readers and cheap ones and diff makes of cards, the better quality readers downloaded quicker than the cheaper ones, the cards also made some difference. To play devil's advocate with this one, if you're not downloading big quantities or volumes of data why don't you just plug your camera in. I know its slower and not as good for your batteries, but with the volume of photos you're taking wouldn't you be better saving your cash?
H
Sandisk or Lexar do - see link below
Oops, thought I'd put it on :bonk:

Think 7 day are pretty much on the ball with price, but have a shop araound - can sometimes be cheaper to buy from 7 day via Amazon
The cheaper one doesn't look like it takes CF cards

Which one out of the 2 please?
I have a Sandisk image mate and also have the lexar UDMA reader linked in post 2 of this thread...... and the Lexar is significantly faster.
A previous post of mine with details
The Hama card was terrible and is now replaced with a Sandisk beating Transcend 600x
