a little lens advice needed

camera is a sony A390 with the standard 18-55mm
im finally getting to grips with things, and landscapes are definitely my primary subject. im not getting as much in the picture as i would like even on 18mm, i like night time shooting which is what i mostly do. would this lens be any good http://www.sony.co.uk/product/ddl-wide-angle-lenses/sal-20f28
if not, is there any recommendations. i've also heard that minolta lenses fit Sony alphas?

That's still going to be a bit long on your camera, I would suggest either the Tamron 10-24mm, Sigma 10-22mm or Sony 11 - 18mm.

Used with a tripod and electronic release cable the slower lenses should be fine as you can increase the exposure time.
