A fairly common medium sized beetle called Chrysolina banksi.
Shots taken with the 350d and mp-e 65with the MT-24ex twin lite.

Photopainter, I handhold all my macro shots as I find tripods are too slow and just get in the way.

Love the last one of the set, and that crop is just amazing (y)
 
Fantastic detail here, and really nice composition ideas. The subject looks really different close up :D. One suggestion from me is to try and work on the lighting a little bit more. It seems a little too dull for my liking, however that's just my personal opinion and taste.
