We spent April touring round New Zealand in a campervan and loved every minute of it. About 10 days in the North Island, and then the rest in the South - which I must say knocks the north into a cocked hat. I've linked to three slideshows of my favourites below, the third is most scenic probably if you can't be bothered with them all !

All on a 5Dii with 35 1.4, 50 1.4 or 135 2.0

Some really nice stuff in there...I'm so jealous ! Thank you for sharing

Many lovely pictures there that bring back a lot of fond memories, but what light and what astonishing night skies.

I bought my first DSLR (Nikon D50) in advance of a 5 week trip to both islands in 2006/7; what a fantastic place. I want to live there; west coast, South Island. Your pictures are great; I love making slideshows of our family trips, and your pictures are inspirational. They remind me of why I enjoy photography, and why I think NZ is the best place in the world (BC Canada in 2nd place!). Can't wait to go back, but with two kids it cost us a small fortune! You get a much cleaner & brighter light in your shots than I do, how much of that is down to having a full frame superb camera versus (my old) cropped D50?

What a great trip you had and the photos are stunning. It is a place I am looking into going to as I have family there and this has definitely inspired me to check it out some more. Yes I watched all 3 videos and thanks for sharing your experience Duncan. (y)

excellent slide shows and the photography is brilliant also. Well Done

Thanks folks, yes the light was fantastic but we were cursed with three weeks of brilliant sunshine which is not quite so photogenic except at dawn and dusk. But can't really complain about that ... We had a little more weather to play with in the last week.

I spent 3 weeks there several years ago before I owned a nice camera, been longing to go back ever since. So many friends and family out there now.
Went for a crazy off road drive thru the dunes/forest off 90 mile beach on the way to the most northern tip of the North Island, and the night sky, 'Oh my God its FULL of stars!'
Great photos too, love the first set.

Even though we live in the country here, we couldn't quite believe the stars over there - Milky Way stretching from horizon to horizon, and two other galaxies visible in the form of the magellanic clouds, amazing !

lovely images, its on my 'to do' list

Cheers, but I'd keep the 35 2.0 - there's nothing here you couldn't have shot with that ... except the stars.
