28th May: Ready for take-off
Watched a group of 4 microlights ready for take off from Popham airfield. The 2nd microlight to take-off descended rapidly right after take-off. Thankfully no accident as it landed safely. Never been that close to a microlight before, they make an immense noise for something so small

Thanks nicnok, I was struggling to find a good subject today, so just grabbed this shot as they began to taxi. Great thing with Popham airfield is you can walk where you like, just have to watch out for moving props ;)
 
Funny, I was dismissed by somebody else for pointing out that you're not supposed to shoot bank notes.
Some good shots lately, like the church candid very much :D

The BoE provides some guidelines for reproducing bank notes. I've also asked permission too, so strictly speaking I should not be displaying the image, but have followed all other guidelines.
 
29th May: Refuelling the Norwegian Jade at Southampton
The Aegean Princess refuels the Norwegian Jade before her next cruise. Shot taken from Mayflower Park and the Norwegian Jade is in the nearest berth 101 at the City Cruise Terminal, with my 100-400 I was too close to get a wide angle shot. To give you some sense of scale, the Aegean Princess is 100 meters long, while the Norwegian Jade is nearly 300 meters in length.

30th May: Brum at Beaulieu Motor Museum.
Loads of parents and kids watching a remote controlled car, we must be mad. My eldest girl was not as impressed as we had hoped, she prefers it on TV.

Hi, thought I'd swing by in here and see how this is coming along and I'm very pleased to say that it's looking VERY good! There is certainly a huge variety of shots all containing different subjects and interest.

This one was a bit time consuming on the selective colouring.

1st June: Air raid shelter remains at former Spitfire assembly site (one for JD :) )
This was my first Urbex site experience, wanted to find something local that I could try out first. Whilst searching Derelict Places website, I cam across Chattis Hill. This site was used in WW1 and WWII. After the bombing of the Supermarine factory in Woolston, Spitfire production was dispersed across a number of sites. The first Spitfire from Chattis Hill took the sky in March 1941. Whilst driving the short distance home I could envisage the surrounding sky's filled with one of the best sounds created by man, that of the Spitfires Merlin engine.

This being my first Urbex adventure I found it a little creepy, this site was situated in a very overgrown and isolated rural location. I had to spend a little while searching for the air raid shelters in the vegetation. Also being on my own and on private land I was constantly looking over my shoulder. The largest shelter I found was almost pitch dark in places and I could not see my hand in front of my face (no idea what was on the floor either, but it felt kind of strange). At least next time I know to, take a torch, don't wear shorts and sandals and try and find somebody to go with :)

Subject matter not being the most interesting to look at, I really like the effect of the final processed image. 3 shot HDR in Photomatix, then curves, exposure, levels adjustments in PS.

Not sure if I like it or not, but I keep looking at it.....

Oh, urbex tips, (well done by the way!) Never go alone. Always wear good boots, gloves are sometimes a good thing. And torches are good for dark places!!! :p
 
Thanks JD, I was not sure at first, but after I created this effect, I tried others, but kept coming back to this, it's kind of mysterious :)

Defiantly not going to go any place alone, thought it was a bit stupid of me afterwards. Need to find some folks down my way who are interested in this stuff now.
