No
I've been getting by with a Cibox monitor recently, but am looking to get something more up to date, without breaking the bank

Are Acer monitors alright? I read somewhere that they are, but always thought they were a low budget brand and unreliable. The one I am looking at is £159, which I am willing to stretch to; It's not for movies or video games.
Oh and as I'm impatient, the on the day collection is important too.

Ergh, no.

It's 27" and only 1080p - the point of having a large screen is to get extra pixels, unless you are half blind or viewing from across a room you don't want that monitor.

Unfortunately £159 will not get you a decent 27" monitor.

so, my motherboard supports a max of 1920x1200, so I should only look for a max 24" monitor?

Ive a nice dell I'm selling in the classified section which is within your budget.
