The photo itself is irrelevent, but the very fact that you would use a word like "shoddy" when referring to someone else's work says a lot.

The crit was short and harsh, but on the money. He needed to be told, he was told. Yes, it could have been worded better (like everything), but tough titties! We are grown ups, and when we post a photo for crit, we have to accept that some harsh words might flow. He simply should have said thanks due to the fact that they DID take the time to point out the error.

"He needed to be told, he was told" sounds like you really wanted see the OP improve his photography there. Turn that around, could you, and others have been "grown up" about his response? Couldn't you see that someone posting "Fail" in a reply isn't in any way shape or form helpful?

Nothing wrong with the word shoddy. People need to grow up and stop reading between the lines. The photo needed work, and he was told.
