Hi,

I am doing a photography project for college and I have chosen the subject of Urban Foxes (I live in SW London). Does anyone have any advice on how to get some good shots, where the best places to go are, advice on technique etc? Like I said, I live in SW London so locations I could go would be particularly useful.

Thanks in advance.
Kasia.

Hi, sorry i cant help with urban fox locations, but if you are in south london, this place is great for pics of foxes generally :)

Thanks Ian. Thats a great photo :)

If anyone does know of good locations to find foxes around London, please let me know.

Thanks.
Kasia.

They have foxes at the London Wetland Centre.
They made quite a few appearances when the BBC were filming there for spring watch.

Try talking to a local pest controller.
I'm sure they would be able to tell you were the higher concentrations of foxes reside.
If you can tag along with one, it may even give you some material for your project.

You'll find them almost anywhere and everywhere I find... in the smallest wasteland to Gardens thickets, bushes and hedges... there particularly fond of KFC leftovers, chips etc. :D

This chap lives in and out of my back garden, I think he lives under my neighbours large shed, possibly one of several born their a few years ago.

...unlike Ians shot however this guys is very very easy to shoot.... he's blind as a bat! ...I woundn't have got near him otherwise. :nono:

This was taken a few days ago...but he was wandering around scratching he’s fleas off just a few minutes ago...bit damp to stop and relax I reckon.

Same chap as last year if anyone remembers the multi pic thread I put up...Quite pleased to see the minger again though..... Amazing to see him survive with such a major disability.

Awww!
Adam, thats a lovely pic ... and you have such a way with words!
Im surprised to hear he's survived in his condition too, especailly after the prog I saw recently about the lifespan of foxes in London.

Kasia, dont forget to come back and share your pictures/stories when you get them

I'm guessing roads are the killer Gloria. I've counted 14 carcases in one day travelling up and down the local Dual carriageway.

... This chaps is perhaps blessed with being overcautious when crossing roads, he can see a bit...although he couldn’t make me out standing clearly in the shadows ten feet away.

Welcome to TP Kasia from me too.... as Glo says, show us how it all went.

im glad to hear that other people share an interest, i live in lowestoft which is a fairly urban sort of town and about a week ago i set myself a challenge to photograph some foxes that i see on a regular basis when i walk my dog, i have only just started and already what i have done so far has paid off, in as much as i have sat about 10 feet from two foxes on 5 out of the 6 nights i have been doin this, i have some video of them but i do not have the right equipment for the job so most of the time it is basically a dark fox outline, but i have just been out and i got another nice view of them tonight, its easy if you have a little luck, a little knowledge and alot of patience, and something for them to eat. try to find a fox you can see on a regular basis, and get to know a route it takes from A-B, then get your self hidden and if you can bait a regular area up with dog meat away from where humans are likely to walk, you cant go wrong, but have patience, it might not happen your first trip but dont let it put you off, foxes are territorial and they will appear if you put the time in, i hope this helps someone, id love to hear from you.

The dogs and vixens are pairing up about now, good time to see them. They have pretty unique footprints that are easy to see in the snow. The prints themselves are like a small dog/terrier, but they follow one line like a cats prints.
