Advice on Sigma 28-70 f2.8-4

I have been offered one for £70 I wanted to know what people think - have you used this? It is to be a replacement for a broken 18-55mm on EOS 350D
 
£70, snap his hand off, don't even reply, make straight for the front door :D

28-70

f2.8 - f4

not the 28-70 f2.8...

Are we still on the same answers?!?!
 
I've just had a look on ebay and was surprised to see one sell for £33 so perhaps it's not the bargain I thought it was, having said that if you have the opportunity to test it and it produces good results it'll be the cheapest F/2.8-4 lens you'll ever buy, you do need to check it'll work on your camera though as some of the old sigma lenses aren't compatible with modern digital bodies, they just return EE in the viewfinder when connected
 
Sorry I miss-read as I think a couple of others did! As Wack says, give it a go. Still might produce good results.
 
I wouldn't buy it all all personally.. but £30 tops if you absolutely must have it ...
