i had a 50mm 1.4 for sale on here great Len's very sharp and dose not hunt, maybe a bit if too close.

since using the back button focus and Al servo it's never missed a beat sharp as a pin as well, cannot believe the change in this Len's, i just use the shutter button for metering.

i used AI focus as well for portrate with jumpy kids in low light and it locked on every time. with plenty of light and a still subject i would use one shot.

hence it's coming off sale

Is it an L - iird these only come in L (i'm looking for one but L is a bit pricey for me)

Hi 50mm 1.4 is not an L the 50mm 1.2 is they go for £8-900 second hand the 50mm 1.4 is around £250ish, try the sigma 50mm 1.4 i used one at a trade show , superb lens sharp as a pin .

Rather than start a new thread I'll hijack this one for now if you don't mind Mark.

I've just started using back button focus too but I'm a bit confused by the metering for the shutter or at least which is best. At the moment I have it set on locking the meter with the half press because I have the mind set that I can pick an exposure from somewhere in the frame and then use that; like for silhouettes.
I just wanted to know what everyone else is doing in regards to metering with the shutter. I also do realise that if I shot fill manual then this wouldn't be a problem lol.
