AF-S DX NIKKOR 16-80mm f/2.8-4E ED VR announced

As in Sigma, Tamron and Fuji being much more effective and actually visable in the OVF/EVF. Nikons VR had never had that effect for me. Two 18-105's and the 24-120 f4 and none of them were very effective imo. The other three systems i have used have pretty much stopped the image dead. Maybe it's just the way that VR works and it does work but isn't visabe?

Ah I see what you mean - the image in the viewfinder doesn't worry me as such so have never considered it. In terms of allowing lower shutter speeds I've not been disappointed with any of them.

From initial reports it looks to be an excellent DX lens, and better than the venerable 17-55 F2.8 and much better than the older 16-85 DX. However whilst an attractive walk about proposition for my newly acquired D7200, it's just far too expensive for me. So for holidays and walkabouts, it will still be the Olympus OMD EM1 or EM5 II with the stunning 12-40 F2.8 that will travel with me.
