airports at night

The airport here in Guernsey is really quite small so you can get quite close to it.

I love the look of runways at night all lit up waiting for a plane so just going to experiment with the cam.

I have a 400D with kit lens and also a Canon 75 300 lens oh and most importantley a tripod.

Just looking for some advice on camera setting to give me a base to work on.

don't bother shooting moving planes at 300/5.6 on a 400d at night you'll get a noisy blurry mess

the runway would look lush though, try and keep to shorter focal lengths to minimise camera shake remember the mirror lock up and use either a cable release or the self timer
