Im after a landscape lens !

I have the minolta 17-35.2.8 d lens but i want something wider i have the sony a450 so its cropped just wondering what you guys think or have

tamron
sigma
tokina
or sony

i dont shoot landscapes (im a portraiture guy myself) but that the ones i here most recommended. both versions of the sigma 10-20 are decent, the most expensive of them is just more expensive with a few minor adjustments.

Are you sure its wider you need? A lot of landscapes can be taken with a 70-200mm lens and even a 600mm lens. Its all too common to assume that you need an ultra wide lens. Often taking a step backward or forward is the best way to get the shot you want.

Agreed. A lot of "w--i--d--e" landscape looks awful - too much uninteresting sky and foreground with the interesting subject a tiny dot.

17mm is plenty wide enough even on crop - and the 17-35 is a lovely lens as well. Far superior optically to any of the crop lenses above.
