Following last Saturdays event that I covered I've just had a call from the organiser of a charity equestrian event being held in September, a friend of hers bought a print from me and recommended me. Apparently their regular photographer can't make it and others want to charge for appearing (is that usual? I thought photographers usually just made their spondoolies from selling the prints). This is a big event with four arenas and few hundred competitors and at last years one the photographer sold around 150 images :gulp:

Obviously I said yes :D but it is a bit nerve wracking, just have to do plenty of planning and try and get hold of a VR lens. :naughty:

Congratulations mate, im really glad for you.
Some photographers do charge for turning up, I do, but with it been such a big event you will probably clear more than enough money to waive the fee.
Good luck and well done.

great stuff :D Haven't heard of photogs charging to attend this type of thing before, usually print sales cover it.

Very common with full time photographers specialising in these types of events.

If you can get an attendance fee and print sales, go for it!

Carl.

Good on ya, not like you don't deserve it!

Sounds like it's time to increase the price of your shots a smidge, 150 shots @ £200 a shot........now where did I put my calculator ;)

Well done!

So how do you cover 4 arenas then ?

Good luck :)

Well done  .

If you want any "free" backup I'd be happy to come along for the practice ,if it's not to far from Chez Gubby.

What ... from N. Ireland ? You gotta be kiiding right ?

Great news Colin ! You must be right proud ... ? (y)

Happy to lend you the 18 - 200 if you cannot get hold of one m8 ? (Only charge you 50% of each shot sold ...)! :naughty: Only kidding ... but you are welcome if needs be ! ;)

Got one this Sunday which is showjumping so more action shots, following weekend I'm on holiday but I've just been booked for another job the day after I come back, so that's two weekends in July taken up already. Quite encouraging really, any sales from these jobs is being aside for a new lens, body, computer, and the list goes on!

Thanks V, I really appreciate the gesture, very kind of you and the sort of behaviour that makes this forum so good.

Never mind that you'll be embarrassing me ... it is only a lens after all ! :p
