@zicklurky all the fill/faded effects are prestets galore Lightroom presets that I then tweaked. I bought them yesterday, over 400 for about £20 ($29). Usually I go for more natural processing but thought these worked well this time.

Thanks, I'll check them out. Normally I'm not a fan of filters, but I really like that effect.
 
First shot takes care of the surroundings very well. Looks great IMHO. Colour ones are decent but clearly zoo material. The bear shots are pretty cool as well.
