Just ordered the new V6 box seeing as its a free upgrade to the Tivo box, has anyone got one and are they better than the old Tivo box
I was called a few months back by Virgin and given this same offer too. No contract extension or charges applicable, just a "would you like a V6 box?".Free upgrade? Tell me more, please

They've just announced free upgrades - V6 box is very good, lots faster on the menu etc
Obviously there's more than that. Wifi or ethernet connected means netflix, iplayer etc are faster responding, more storagehmmm tempted. although recording 6 things at once isn't something i'd use - i'll have a look - thanks! faster menus would be good

how do you know if it works with your exisiting hub, think mine is a few years old now. my friend upgraded and said he has issues setting it up but looks like no issues for you guys.
was it just plug and play? & do you send old one back?
I thought there was a charge even if you did it your self? maybe its changed since i got an email about it
If anyone wants discount getting Virgin let me know I think it’s currently £50 [emoji106]
They installed ours and it was still free. Its definitely free if you self-install. Upgraded ours a couple of weeks ago, it should only take about 30 minutes. The V6 is much better than the old TiVo with way quicker response. The new hub is good too.
well that's annoying. i have films saved on there to avoid buying dvds & taking up more room and just other stuff that is unlikely to crop up again. i understand the licensing reasons, but the recordings are still just for me, even if they are on another box. you'd think there would be some sort of allowance made. i know thats not how copy right works but whats the point in a 500mb tivo box if you're not going to keep some of the recordings long term. my life won't end if i dont have them but at this point i wouldn't voluntarily scrap them
I don`t think it is as easy as just plugging in and away you go. We have our TV on the wall then the VM box with cable is over 12ft away on the other wall.
But presumably just an HDMI cable in between which both boxes use. Our's was definitely plug and play. Though I think my wife had to call VM to get it initialised once it was physically installed.
Power supply to the V6 box, HDMI cable to the TV. It can link to the internet using wifi. But presumably just an HDMI cable in between which both boxes use. Our's was definitely plug and play. Though I think my wife had to call VM to get it initialised once it was physically installed.
just gone through the process and you lose anything stored on your old box, and i have a bunch of stuff saved so thats more important to me than the new box at this point. sure i'll get forced into it eventually but i dont want to lose all that stuff

The free upgrade included the Hub if it’s an older version. I have 2 x V6 boxes with the 300 mbps Internet. And yes it has dropped out once or twice but so did Sky before I changed.
