Any Giottos Vitruvian owners?

Hi,

Does anyone own a Giottos vitruvian tripod, and if so can you advice how i should collapse the legs so they fold back on themselves?

I recently purchased the tiny VGRN8225+5310-630, and when i received it i could collapse 2 of the legs, but the third leg would not collapse as the silver button would not go over the black part of the tripod to allow the leg to pivot up and fold back.

I complained to the supplier who said it must be faulty and today i received the replacement, only to have the exact same problem.

I asked for the tripod to be checked before i sent it out so i'm assuming i must be doing something wrong, but i can't understand what. Like the one before it, i can get 2 of the legs to fold back on themselves, but not the third.

If anyone can give me any tips on how to get it to work i would be so so greatfull, as this is getting quite frustrating.

I dont have one but ive seen a few video reviews. It looks like you might have to push the leg in slightly before folding it out. Im sure your tried that though. Maybe one leg is a bit stiffer than the others.

I agree with Dave - when I had one I had to ease the one leg in a little further - also had a good tendency to stick so applied furniture polish on a regular basis as was recommended to me by someone else as a cheap form of silicone type lubricant

Mine either, Push the button, push the leg in slightly, then flip it over.

Thanks for the replies, i had a phone call from the retailer saying he had got all the legs to collapse, but one was much harder than the other two.

I was worried about breaking it by being too forceful, but given that i knew it had to collapse as he had got it to work, i got a male friend to apply a bit more force and it worked.

After collapsing it a few times, it now seems a bit easier, but still much harder than the other two legs which collapse effortlessly.

Hopefully it will continue to loosen up with use, as i think it will be a great little tripod for travelling light.

You could use an Allen key and loosen of the bolt slightly. I had to do this with my gitzo as one leg was very hard to move.

Sounds like you weren't pushing the leg in enough prior to depressing the silver latch. The pictures you've posted don't seem to show the leg pushed inwards. You might also benefit from loosening the bolts to allow the leg to fold easier once the latch is depressed. The Allen key should be in the bag.
