any good films about? *CONTAINS SPOILERS*

Eden Lake - you will never go near a hoodie again.

Really really good with a great ending. It is a bit gory :D

Not sure how I missed that one when it was released? But I'm going to check it out now. Looks good.

Watched Ironman 3 at the weekend, was expecting it to be dire but then really enjoyed it. Much better than Ironman 2.

The only thing I found disappointing about Iron Man 3, was no AC/DC in the soundtrack.:nono:

Fast and Furious 6.

No, maybe not then... Although I did see it through to the end. (where it must have been the longest runway ever built)

I worked on that, and we did work out the runway length as being particularly large....someone did a calculation in an online article for it too. Somewhere around 23 miles was the general agreement I think

I can't help enjoying the franchise of films. Being a car fan is my only defence sorry. I was disappointed only to see the mark 1 escort on its own amongst all the American muscle cars in the UK scenes. There were so many cars they could have used along with the escort.

Recently watched 3 films mentioned in this thread

Oblivion - Didn't grip me, poor sci-fi if I'm being honest

Olympus Has Fallen - Felt like a remake of Die Hard, without the charm of the original

Star Trek: Into Darkness - Absolutely loved it, fallen in love with the franchise all over again! Especially enjoyed the homage at the end

my advice don't watch 'ides of march' - swimbo downloaded it last night and it was crap (particularly the ending) - its just about okay for girls who want to perve on ryan gosling, but for anyone looking for plot and satisfying endings its a  from me

btw if your other half does want to perve on ryan gosling , persuade her to get 'only god forgives' instead - she'll enjoy it more , and its got a story line and plot blokes might actually want to watch

Just finished watching "Stand up Guys" Al Pacino, Christopher Waulken and Alan Arkin. Not a bad film at all for a bunch of old guys!

Picked up Jack Reacher for a fiver today. I never thought Tom Cruise was right for the part but I'm happy to say he was much better than I expected. The film was quite watchable. :)

Rush is now available in the UK iTunes store, and thankfully my wife has a UK iTunes account so I finally saw it last night. What a really good film!!

Been way too busy recently I've got a huge backlog to watch..

Rush
Elysium
Riddick
2 Guns
Great Gatsby
Kick Ass 2

To name a few.

From my last post I watched Star Trek "2" a few weeks back. I wasn't overly impressed. Might try it again at some point.

I think its Lee Childs that wrote the Jack Reacher novels, the character had to become almost ghost like to complete his missions, and constantly having to live in this withdrawn state eventually shadowed into what real life he had left, turning him into the Reacher of today. I thought Tom Cruise pretty much nailed the charachter I half knew, loved it, really changed my whole perseption of Tom, Vanilla skies another good one i've re-discoverd since seeing tom in my new light.

MelGibson in Payback did that for me also, awesome film.

My picks these last few weeks are.

American Hustle. Advertised to look a bit like our brit TV show I think, but turned out to be a really very good film and nothing anywhere like the TV series, but without being disapointing because of it.
Captain Philips. (Tom Hanks) Top film, different interesting subject matter, serious from the go, edge of seat stuff from beging to end but not in an irritatting drawn out way that many films seem to abuse.
The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. (Ben Stiller) Kinda soft film but cool, also about photography in many way, or what photography can do for our soul type thing. Well worth a watch, nice ending ...blubber!!

Watched Captain Philips last night. Superb film. If you can, watch it.

Wolf of wall street. 3hrs long but very good. Sex, drugs and money, and more sex, drugs and money, and scenes that make you laugh out loud. (Lamborghini Countach, you'll know what I'm on about when you see it). One of those films that the main character (Leonardo Dicaprio) narrates. Director is Martin Scorsese.

The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. Agree with Adam above.

American Hustle. I wanted to enjoy it but it never happened.

Really enjoyed 2 Guns... Bit of a leave your brain at home movie, but pretty good.

Elysium; you can tell it's a Neill Blomkamp movie. Enjoyed it, but yearned for it to give a little more. Definitely worth a watch though.

Also seen;

Carrie:Better than the original imho, but still rubbish. Too teeny-weeny.

Hunger Games:CF; again, better than the first (which isn't difficult), but still reminds me of a Running Man/Battle Royale ripoff for kids.

Prisoners ; outstanding movie. Must watch.

Are you lot kidding Riddick?! I had to turn it of after 10 minutes total s***e.

Tyrannosaur was on C4 a couple of weeks ago

Not a fun film but very well written and acted

For those that haven't seen it, In Bruges is well worth a watch, I've bought and lent the DVD 3 times now , lost all of them so I bought the bluray because I don't know anybody else with a bluray player

Nobody I lent it to had heard of it but they all loved it

When I first saw it I looked it up on imdb , one of the comments from an American said Colin Farell plays a convincing Irishman :D

The Iceman... Brilliant .

hell yeah, I watched this and then went on to watch the real interviews with the iceman, I couldn't help but like him even though he had killed 150 to 300 men lol

couple of years old but Lawless is a good one, also Prisoners is a great film, quite a new one

Both very good films. I have to overcome my dislike for Farell when ever he is in a film.

Agree abut In Bruges and disliking Farrel. Liked him in the remake of Total Recall as well. Mind you Kate Beckinsale *and* Jessica Biel were in that so it was a no brainer for me. :woot:

Stuff i've watched lately i thought ok

12 years a slave
The Butler
Prisoners (a bit of an obvious ending)
Inside Llewyn Davies
Django unchained
Oh brother where art thou
Dallas Buyers Club, Matthew McConaughey is excellent in this
Rush
Last Vegas
The Place Beyond the Pines
About Time (if you want to watch something your mrs will love)

Crap stuff would be

The Iron man trilogy, only watched it as her indoors had it on while i was on the PC
Hunger Games Catching Fire (same as above)
Riddick (could have been so much better)

Are you lot kidding Riddick?! I had to turn it of after 10 minutes total tummymude.

It's not that bad, if you liked the first two you'll probably like this one. I don't think it had the same budget as Chronicles but they did well enough with what they had imo.
