Any Joomla! Guru's around?

I am trying to build a community website using my recently acquired beginners knowledge of Joomla! and wanted to have a drop down menu similar to http://www.oru.edu/

I am not familiar with CSS but can follow. :bang:

Can anyone post a tutorial from the time the sub-menu is created until the sub-menu is displayed as shown in the website above please?

You dont need to be familiar with css.. just joomla.
And tnh... this is the wrong forum, go to Joomla forums and you will find a wealth of knowlegde.
You ned to find modules / components for the menus / dropdowns.
Go on the joomla mainsite and lok at extensions.

have you created any sub menu items?

When you create the menu item (admin/menumanager/select "menu item" for specific menu you are working on/ add new menu item /

At this point you have the option to select a parent item for the dropdown (in the box on the left) select one, and then add your menu item. It ought to now drop down from the parent

when you have a few sub menu items - come back here, and I will tell you what to do next (if drop down menu's are not allready working)

Richard is spot on, also what template you are using, some have fancy menus...
