Any Plumbers in the Room?

Hi all, I'm looking for some plumbing advice...

I have had a wet underfloor heating system fitted earlier in the year. The UFH does all of downstairs and we still have the conventional radiator system upstairs. I have had the plumber fit a relay so that when only the downstairs is calling for heat the upstairs is not also heated and vice versa.

Now when both the radiators and UFH are calling for heat, everything works perfectly. However, when only the UFH calls for heat the boiler only runs for around 40 seconds, then it the boiler stops and the boiler fan/pump continues to run for around 2 mins. Then after around a minute, it'll do the same again. It sounds like the pipework to the UFH is over pressurising and shutting the boiler off.
The plumber says that this is okay, but I get the feeling that the whole system would work much better if there was some form of pressure tank that the boiler could fill and the UFH could take from as it needs it.

Is this a thing? Would it work? Does anyone have any experience in this area?

Many thanks in advance.
Mark.

I think you need a second opinion from another plumber who specialises in UFH.

As kendo1 has suggested, get a second opinion as the way your system is working is not correct. It also has nothing to do with 'pressure'.

It sounds like the water in the UFH is not circulating properly which will cause the water in the boiler to get too hot and the boiler will shut off
I've had this problem many times on radiator systems and the normal cause is air in the system or boiler
Maybe turn the pump down to minimum and try and bleed air from the system
Just because the system is pressurised does not mean it circulates better, the circulation is controlled by the pump

Presumably there are either a 3 port valve or two 2 ports so either the downstairs circuit is sludged up or one of the 3 or 2 port valves isn’t opening properly and boiler is going out on temperature. It isn’t a boiler or pressure problem but a circulation/ controls issue.
