Yes
.....in the vein of William Eggleston, Stephen Shore, Martin Parr and current favourite Marjolaine Ryley? I am extremely passionate about this kind of abstract documentary, currently I am photographing the ceilings of public toilets (i know :cuckoo:) however I sometimes feel embarrased about showing them outside my circle of photographer friends. Some people view them as just snap shots and see no meaning behind them.

I havent really seen many threads on this kind of photography so was wondering how many tog's here are interested in it?

Opinions for and against welcome!:)

Vicky.

I may just do that. Have to finish this one first, thinking of using it for our first documentary brief or something similar to it.

a lady might just get away with this but a guy in the gents toilets with a camera  :lol::lol:

 I am officially the James Bond of scottish toilets, I have successfully managed to excape unoticed after every shoot. Hmmmm I am unsure if this is a good thing now....

One of my fave books is "24 hours in the life of a city"

It was shot in Glasgow in the year of culture and was completed by a team of newspaper togs all armed with film and all shot within the same 24 hour period. It's a fascinating read now when I look back. Kids playing in the street, revellers making their way home on the last bus, the bakery workers early morning.

Must go and dig it out for another look through. :)

I wish I'd taken a photo of the notice in the gents' toilets at one of the (now closed) car auctions in Glasgow which read "please refrain from washing your feet in the sinks"

Well, I've lugged the wretched thing around for nigh on 20 years through 6 house moves......................and NOW you tell me it's worth £4.50!

Actually, I lie, it was in the new one at Ballieston. Did your purchase make it out past the arch into Graham Square? That was the point at which any warranty expired - it was common to see people desparately trying to push some old banger backwards through the arch in a vain attempt to get their money back

I ran around in it for a year and actually it was not too bad considering the era!

It's a brill book Vic, not so many of the classic street candids and a few more set up shots but all done out in Glasgow on one day. I wish they would do another one on the 20th anniversary so you can see the difference.

That actually sounds like quite a good challenge! When I get hold of the book I could perhaps try my own take on it...........

i wish i was doing the documentary unit again, so many good ideas i have!

the toilet thing seems like an interesting one though...

nopes, i done it last year at motherwell!

seems we had an easier brief too, create a book on whatever subject, i did two, first one was 'boring' according to lecturer so went to tattoo studio for 3 days and got another book full of shots which was better.
