I'm assuming a slow shutter speed but what else? Panning?

Cheers

Almost certainly pannning on a tripod. I think the effect can be replicated in photoshop as well though.

Motion blur in photaychop.

I tried something like this a few years back...

His are really well done, mine... well... not so much.

Pretty simple straight shot of a nice sunset, then a lateral motion blur applied in Photoshop to the required amount. Sorted. You can do a long exposure as well if you want to soften things up a bit more.

Here's one I prepared earlier:

Thanks everyone.

Tobers yours looks very similar but I was told by the guy's wife that he is a purist and doesn't like using photoshop.

I did it by accident once when I first had my camera. Shutter was set to around a 1 or 2 second exposure. So long as it's metered ok for that, just pan away and you will get similar results.

Hi, I'm an old has been. Tried to come on your old crocks jaunt, but broke down - body not bike. Sold up, and am now reverting to photography, after a 30+ year break.

Aha - sorry to hear you sold your bike. Have to say photography is proving to be a very good alternative for me at the moment. Hope you enjoy it.
