it's a nice idea, but can only use it with wifi.

Yeah, I use it! It's cool.

You do need wifi but you can easily setup an ad-hoc network which means you can use it when you're out and about.

I don't see the benefit of this... Your camera needs to be plugged into your PC, and you need a wifi connection?

What's it useful for? You could just use the tethering software on the PC instead...

I saw a blog somewhere where someone was using it with the camera tethered to a netbook and he had the whole lot up a tree or something. He could then use his iPhone to adjust the settings of the camera and fire the shutter as well as getting a live view feed. Pretty cool if you need that kind of thing.

maybe intergrated wifi is something cameras might have in the coming years?

I recall seeing pictures of the prototype D90 and it had/was due to have wifi.

Of course you can get the eye-fi card, but that only allows picture transfer and costs too much for such limited features.
