Yes
Considering getting one of these.
I rate Tamron lenses very highly, so I'd image it's pretty pukka, but just wanted to hear from people who own/use one.

Build quality, IQ etc........

I'm in the same boat. I love my Tamron 17-50 and want an UWA so seriously considering one of these over the Sigma 10-20. Jessops are selling them for £369 so looking good VFM. Very few reviews kicking about but the pics on FlickR look good to me.

So they are!
Thanks for that. I was going to order mine from SRS Microsystems, but with postage it works out just the same......

I've now had a few Tamron lenses, and they are always spot on.
My 17-50 is tack sharp, even wide open.
Had one for my Sony a300 when I had it, same again, spot on.
Had a 55-200mm Tamron, £37 new from Jessops, and this was also sharp as hell.

This is why I'm thinking of getting the 10-24mm

have been considering a lens of similar range
was looking most probably at the sigma but canons own if i can afford it at the time

not owned or used a tamron and would have thought they might not be as sharp or something
might look into the tamron a bit more as they (tamron) seem to be quite highly spoken of above

Andy, there is a review of the Tamron, the Sigma 10-20mm and the Tokina 12-24mm in this month's Photography Monthly magazine. The Sigma comes out on top :D

I also purchased a 10-24 Tamron from Jessops, 369. The lens in Jacobs was the new price 450. To be honest I am not to happy with it, the shots I have taken are not that sharp and the periphery is downright poor. Compared it with the bundle lens 18-105 I got with the D90 it is rubbish at 18mm. Maybe these super wide angle shots are a bit to much.

DPReview reviewed it and said it was better than the Sigma 10-20... so its all a bit circular.

For the price, I would be tempted to try one from Jessops, at least if you don't like it, you won't have hassles with returns.

I've seen some really mixed opinions on this one..!

I bought mine from Morris Photography as they had one in stock, had great service and they delivered as promised so that i could take it away this weekend. ( I had tried to use Warehouseexpress as normal, but after 3 non-returned phone calls, an unanswered email and to be told it wasn't released yet( I bought from morris the same day!)).

I took nearly 200 shots with it this weekend and have to say I am very happy with it.
The pictures look sharp and the field of view is amazing!

Downsides:- Focussing is slower than a canon lens, but who needs super quick focussing doing landscapes, the lens hood is huge! and the manual focus ring has the same markings as the zoom ring so easy to confuse the 2

When I edit the 900 photos from 4 days away I'll post some using the lens.
Having never tried the canon or sigma lens i have to say it is the best £400 spent (and saves £250 on the Canon...off to the Lee site for their filters!!!)

Hmmm. May have to add this lens to the short list to look at when it comes UWA lens time - especially at what they are priced.
