Anyone using a CISS with a Canon Pro 9000?

As per the title, can you let me know what your using and how you are getting on with it?
I did try a CISS from City Ink Express a while ago in my old Canon MP600 but needless to say it didnt work and thats why the MP600 is classed as my old printer. It leaked all over the print head and totally wasted the printer, it wouldnt recognise any ink cartridges afterwards.

I dont mind spending a bob or two on a decent system if it is going to be cheaper to use in the long run, especially as the inks are approx £16 a pop and if you run out you cant just pop down to PC world for a Photo Green or Photo Magenta as they never stock them.

Any advice appreciated.

Anyone using any Lyson products?

Seen this which looks OK, but once again its from city ink express which doesnt fill me with confidence but I need to find some way to get the cost of these cartridges down a bit

You can get them mail order for about £10 each, which is a bit cheaper than the £16 you mentioned above.

Think I got my last ones from 7dayshop.com
 
Yeah but it would be nice to have a CISS system that was even cheaper to run.
Not having much luck finding something though.....
 
cant help with your printer but i got one for my pixma 4500 off fleabay, and im quite surprised by the quality of it, looks ugly fitted but ink is cheap enough to make it worthwhile in my case. Got it from coralgraph - registered as a business on ebay

Thats the MKII, mine is the MKI but thanks anyway.
I had a real bad experience with City Ink, their CISS killed my printer and I wasnt happy so would rather spend out on a more reliable model.

Did you talk to Shane about it he is very helpful
 
Yeah spoke with someone and they sent me another CISS out but by then the printer was dead....gave it to my dad to play around with and see if he could revive it, not sure if he did or not.

Not too keen on having the same happen with this printer as it cost a bit more than the last one.

I've been using a CISS on a Canon 9000 for a couple of years now. Last year, I changed to City Ink and found it a much more reliable system to the one I was using previously. I produce reproduction dustjackets on it for collectable books, and it does a damn good job, but I've not had any luck with high quality prints of photos, but since I don't need to use it for photos, it doesn't matter.
 
I am ideally looking for a more high end product that can guarantee results but it seems they dont exist.
I want to print high quality photos so if it doesnt work for you then will defo give the city ink system a miss
 
I though Fotospeed may have done one but from my search I can only see Epson printers.

I don't really see how a CISS would make you printer not work.... all of the system is outside the printer and what is in the printer is only the cartridges bit.. so how did it bust your printer?
 
The ink leaked out of the cartidges, then into the print head. All of the seals were fitted and instructions followed. Spent 4 hours trying to clean the ink from the printer but it wouldn't ever recognise any print catridges again.

So it's my personal preference not to use city ink.

Well I have to say having two of them myself and fitted many for club members not had one complaint. Also I can not see how ink would mess it up.
If you have ink on any of the connections then all you have to do is clean it any ink should have only leaks into the bottom of the printer. Tell me where did you keep your ink bottles? They MUST be at the same level as the printer, if not you will get siphoning of the ink.
 
Chaz, you may well have fitted plenty without hitch but rest assured the one I used killed my printer so I am not willing to take the chance again.
I will not be using City Ink and the whole point of this thread is to find an alternative solution.
 
Looks like its Epson only!
Seems there are very very few options available with this printer which is bugging me now
