What are the best best photography sites you visit on the web and why?

I hope this doesn't break any forum rules, I am not looking to take attention away from this forum, it's easily the best best photography resource I have found, but was wondering what else there was. If it is against the rules can mods remove please?

Thanks for these, feeding my photography addiction nicely

Keep them coming as I love sitting and browsing through photos.

I have the Reuters one on my blackberry
Reuters - http://uk.reuters.com/news/pictures

I like the National Geographic one as well: http://photography.nationalgeographic.com/photography/

Telegraph is another in my favourites:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/picturegalleries/

Just took a look at the Reuters slideshow for pics of the week, awesome! Thank you.

I generally use twitter or an RSS feed to keep on top of things.
Content wise I follow
http://www.earthshots.org/
http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/astropix.html
Some wildlife togs (Andy Rouse, Richard Peters, Alan Hewitt and some more) as it's an area I'd like to explore once I can get some money together for the required gear.
http://www.leonneal.com/blog/ is an interesting blog by an AFP tog though not updated as often as some.
And then finally I follow some of the big names like Strobist, Joe McNally and so on.

I also keep an eye on some suppliers (3 legged thing, black rapid, think tank) though this is mainly because they like giving things away!

POTN is great for Canon users and also has a whole thread for Nikon users, but a) it's not quite as friendly as TP, and b) as most of the people on there are from the States, they make a lot of references we Brits might not get straight away (for example, famous people we've never heard of), and they quote local prices for camera gear that show just how much extra we have to pay.

Having said that there are some fantastic photos on there every day so it's a great place for getting inspiration. And there are a lot of pros on there so it's also a great place for making us amateurs feel like beginners :D

One of my favourites is Shutter Sisters. Women often have a very different take on photography and creativity and it makes for interesting reading.

As someone who enjoys street photography, I like to check out Eric Kim's blog now and again.

Photography Blog is a good source of photography-related news, especially camera gear.

Digital Photography School is a great place to learn more about photography.

Virtual Photography Studio is another great blog about photography in general.

I hope this doesn't break any forum rules

I would hope that if there are enough responses to this thread that it could be made a sticky. There's some useful information here.

pretty much all forums are the same as this one lol

we have our own...errrrrrm...unique members..eh poah..:p

POTN is not as good as this site. something not really homely about it.

At nearly ten times the membership, yes it is a little less homely

POTN... And there are a lot of pros on there so it's also a great place for making us amateurs feel like beginners :D

I find they are very forthcoming with good advice. I have found you do not get the pros thinking the are above everyone else like they do on some forums.

CPN Canon Professional Network I find to be a good Canon site with lots of tips and lessons (masterclass) all open to everyone.

Just registered for potn today and feel super intimidated by the amount of information on there.
Much prefer the layout of this site, it seems to cater more to beginners whilst also providing information for the more advanced members.

Much prefer the layout of this site,

Well yes one is Powered by vBulletin® Version 3.6.12
The other is Powered by vBulletin® Version 3.8.4

I can really see the difference in layout :lol:

But we are nit picking over the top two photo forums IMHO in fact I only use 3 forums the other being EOS Magazine forum

Now looking at suggested sites by other folk, I maybe missing out as I don't read ANY blogs at all.

I like the layout of this website people are very friendly. I also prefer a uk based site for some reason. This forum is fairly busy too which is good as topics get answered quickly and from different angles and opinions. Sometimes it's abit daunting but it's ok now.

I prefer the layout of potn. Especially the equipment stuff all in separate sub forums. This forum has just one generic talk equipment section. Better if it had a section for camera body's only and one for lenses

I didn't mean the design of the forum. I meant the layout of the forum sections. I prefer the talk equipment forum to the lens one on potn. It's almost as if the site has too much information.

Fredmiranda.com is a useful and friendly site, the 'Alternate' section is good for info on Zeiss and other manual focus lenses.

I agree its an excellent site, worldwide too so you get a different view on things
Some of the guys in the macro section are on another level some amazing work there

If you've got a blackberry (but not a Bold 9780) then you can get an app called Reuters Galleries for Blackberry. Now if Blackberry have it then I'm sure iPhones and Androids do!

Reuters is just about the only app i ever use (Blackberry)... the images are ace. Even on the tiddy screen i get inspiration just browsing through the latest stuff.

I'm obviously less adventurous when it comes to photography I'm only a member here...I like to dedicate myself to what I do so mods sorry to say the only way your getting rid of me is to ban me

The other photography sites I visit are DPReview and Ephotozine.

I like DPReview for the manufacturer specific/subject forums. I think their camera reviews (when they happen ;)) are the best and most thorough imho. The downside is the huge American influence in the forums which can sometimes be a bit annoying.

I like the Ephotozine forums, though they are not as busy as they once were, and are a bit random. They have good review and tutorials though. The galleries are very busy, but I think the site tries to offer too much. (If that's possible )

I'm always on the lookout for other places to visit though, so well done for starting this thread.

As forums go, I think this is the most varied and vibrant I've found. :) And long may it continue.

I used to be a daily visitor at Dpreview but not anymore. It went downhill since Amazon acquired it.

And people rarely offer true critique, they just say how nice/good/wonderful/amazing your pics looks.

Thanks for these. Just been looking at Eric Kim site and noticed this

Apologies if posted before.

It helps relax me too that app, it's my 5 minutes away from my computer and refreshes my mind

This is a good thread, have already added several sites to my favourites. The Boston Globe one is good

I'm sure there are a few more people can add
