Aperture on Sigma 150-500mm f5-6.3 DG OS HSM

it will be f5.6 at 150mm and f6.3 at 500mm

edit, opps miss read question. sorryy

If its anything like the 50-500 it'll be f/6.3 almost all the way, so almost certainly f/6.3 at 400mm I'd guess.

Thanks for the responses so far guys, I'm hoping to buy a nice long lens tomorrow and unfortunately the Canon 100-400mm is just out of my price range so I'm going for either the Sigma 120-400mm or Sigma 150-500mm as I I'm useless at saving and know if I hold off I'll just fritter it away and end up with none of them.

Tommy.

From just under 300mm, the 150-500 is f/6.3 at its fastest.

Interesting. Just to test this, I don't know about the 150-500 but I just took a picture of my telly with the Sigma 50-500 @417mm @f5.6, after 420mm it goes to f6.3, those are siggy mm's you understand which by all accounts are a bit smaller than normal canon ones. :p

After a search I found this on flickr

Sigma 150-500mm OS

180mm ->f/5.3
220mm->f/5.6
270mm->f/6
350mm->f/6.3

Cheers Nod for a definitive answer, that combined with it's minimum focus range will push me towards the 120-400mm I think.

Tommy.

Out of the 2 the 120-400mm would be better as its a slightly faster lens.

I have the 150-500 and it is a cracking good lens, if I was buying again and money was no object I would still get another one in preference to the Canon 100-400
