Apple MacBook 2008

Hi,

Im after a bit of advice, my windows laptop has given up the ghost and I have seen a second hand Apple Macbook 2008 running Yosemite 10.10.5, question is being an older model will it run the newest versions of Photoshop/Lightroom etc.

Any advice welcome.

Lightroom classic needs a minimum of macOS Mojave (version 10.14) to run the latest version.

I have two 2009 MacBooks with a lot of life left in them, but they can only be upgraded to mac 4Gb memory and despite also adding an internal SSD drive, they are a bit slow for modern software even if it does run (and some won't). I don't know about current Photoshop etc but I am running Lightroom 6.14 happily on a similar config 2009 iMac. I do switch to a newer machine for anything more advanced though.

It appears the latest PS/LR require Metal GPUs, and none of the 2008 models have those.

My late 2008 unibody MacBook was dog-slow running lightroom 5 in 2014, even with 8gb ram and an SSD. I can't imagine that machine would be pleasant to work with running the current version.

In short no. You should be looking at a minimum of 2016 models.
