This has been blown out of proportion in the blogosphere and even the BBC News site (and is probably why Apple have removed the document), all it was is an update of an existing document and people have jumped on it!

i read that news article and i didnt really understand it.
it said that e-mail viruses dont really affect macs but you need anti virus because there are a lot of spoof websites out there trying to trick mac users. But surely the anti-spoofing built into the web browser is there to help with that, rather than an anti virus software?

Just found this.
Apple removed an old item from its support site late Tuesday that urged Mac customers to use multiple antivirus utilities and now says the Mac is safe "out of the box."
"We have removed the KnowledgeBase article because it was old and inaccurate," Apple spokesperson Bill Evans said.
