My mother in law has a bunch of old 120 negatives (6x6 and 6x7) that she would like developed.
Can these still be taken to a high street developer or do they require something a bit more specialist for printing/enlarging?

Im not a film expert so hoping you kind people could point me in the right direction.
Thanks!

You need them scanned ?
They look like they've already been developed

High street labs only deal with 35mm film these days. For 120 film you will need a professional photo lab. There are plenty with great reputations. I have used FilmDev and have been really happy with their service.

Roughly how many are you talking about, Stuart?

It's more of a hassle to get cut negatives lab-scanned, I think. Peak (who generally do an excellent job, though I find their scanning a bit expensive) will do one frame for just under £5, or just under £2.50 per frame for 25 or more.

I don't presently have access to my MF scanner, and I have a few thousand negs of my father's to scan, or I'd offer to help out!

What do you want ?
Do you want prints
If you want prints, how big
Do you particularly want wet prints or inkjet
If inkjet will do, you need to get them scanned to files, the files can then be printed on an inkjet the same way you'd print from a digital camera.
Are you happy to print them yourself or do you need both a scan and print service.
Back to the above post, how many frames and are they all cut

There are 31 frames in total.
Most are cut but some of the 6x6 are still in pairs.
To be honest she would be happy with them scanned for me to print out on my printer.

Whereabouts are you? There may be one of us local with a flatbed scanner that can help. A lab can do a very high quality scan, but you can get a perfectly good scan for printing if you can find someone with a V500 or similar scanner.

This isn't really accurate. For instance, I can walk down the street and have Snappy Snaps develop and scan 120 in an hour.

In fact, the nearest one to me in Leeds is.....Lincoln...there isn't a snappy snaps in the whole of Yorkshire...:ROFLMAO:

We used to have a Snappy Snaps in Edinburgh. I loved their prints from my brief days of shooting 35mm

Stills in Market St, Edinburgh is surely the place for you; they have a Hasselblad Flextight scanner that you can use yourself, I think... http://stills.org/digital-lab Day pass at £12 seems pretty reasonable to me!
That's really good deal, I didn't know anyone did a DIY scanning option, I wonder if there's someone offering a large format option in London.

I think some public darkrooms may offer this option. Well, at least the darkroom I use in Glasgow does anyway.
