Aston Martin DB4 GT

I wish the first shot was all in shadow . but do like the photos , and - sweet Jesus ! what a car ! although would never want to have it.
did you use nifty fifty ?

A classy motor
....quite like these shots, almost tantalising and leaves me craving for some more ;)

Personally not a fan of the first two but love the last which you were not happy with although it wouldn't work without the others for context :)

She is an absolute beauty and looks very well maintained.

Thanks for your comments
Top two are with 70-200L, last one of the dash is with 50mm f/1.8.

Thanks, it has just been partially rebuilt.

I'd like to see more of this classic, "in lunch break" where do you work, is the car something to do with it.?

I really like the dash photo - looks like the exposure is absolutely spot on.
So this was taken with a 40D and a nifty fifty - would you mind giving a few details on what you did in post processing, maybe even posting the original unprocessed photo for comparison?

Thanks,
Dave.

I work for a Aston Martin specialist. I will try to get some more when the car comes out of storage.

Hi,

Yes it was with a 40D and nifty fifty, no filters.

Image was edited with Photoshop.
Firstly I added a 'levels' layer mask and lowered the grey point, to make the blacks in the dash, blacker. Sharpened the image with a high pass filter. Then I cloned out some of the scratches and dust spots on the dash and cropped the image to size.

Original, just resized...

Thanks for the details. I really must learn how to post process - if I had taken the photo of the dash it would have stayed looking like your 'before' pic - the darkened dash after PP looks REALLY great.

Nice shots, and the PP comparison really shows how a little pp can make a shot pop, I know a lad fresh into photography who does no PP so may show him these shots so he can see what a difference a little work can make.
