"My co-worker likes to hunt and has a motion activated wildlife camera he puts out in the woods to see what wildlife are in an area. The results are apparently special needs deer."

The barrels are usually left with feed in them for game birds.The deer like barley,pellets,whatever.The stags come along and either whip the top off or, if you weigh the top down,they thrash the barrel about until the feed comes out . Clever buggers really.............

Edit.....In fact that could be a hopper rather than a barrel,same result though.
